Call for papers for MA and PhD Students: Research Methods in Asian Studies – International Students Workshop (7 May 2018)

Students are invited to submit papers for an International Student Workshop „Research Methods in Asian Studies” organized jointly by Institute of International Relations, Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw and Contemporary South Asia Programme, School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies, University of Oxford in cooperation with South Asia Democratic Forum, University of Calcutta. The workshop will take place on 7thMay 2018.

Students are asked to prepare the following documents in English:

  1. Cover Letter
  2. An abstract (200-300 words) of their proposed research project
  3. 5 page long paper based on their research project, which includes: research problem, literature review, literature gap, 1-2 research questions, hypothesis, aim of paper, assumptions
  4. CV
  5. Transcript of records (including GPA)
  6. a certificate of proficiency in English (equivalent at least to the level B2)

 

Paper should focus on following topics:

  • International Relations in Asia-Pacific or in sub-regions: South Asia, North-East Asia, South East-Asia; IR in Indo-Pacific;
  • Foreign Policy and Security Policy of Great Powers and Emerging Powers in Asia or in sub-regions;
  • Foreign Policy or Security Policy of Asian Countries (could be case study of chosen country);
  • Security Threats/Challenges in Asia;
  • Economics, Development in Asia or selected Asian Country, Sub-regions
  • Social Policy, Human Rights, Politics in Asia

Deadline:All papers must be submitted till 25 April, 11.00 am

 

Students of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, who would like to submit their application are asked to do so by 25thof April 11.00 am to Ms Barbara Kratiuk M.A. Hard copies are preferable. Soft copies should be sent to bkkratiuk@uw.edu.plwith the title: Oxford Workshop Application. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Award:The best 4-6 papers will be presented at the seminar with scholars from University of Oxford and other European universities.
